Welcome to the Centre for Environment and Society

The Centre for Environment and Society fosters interdisciplinary research into the monitoring, management and mitigation of adverse impacts on our planet and the life it supports.

We focus on pressing environmental, health and societal challenges, particularly those arising from climate change, and achieve research excellence in collaboration with a wide global network of academic partners, humanitarian organisations, national, regional and local agencies, regulators, institutions and stakeholder groups.

The applied nature of our research and knowledge exchange activities allows our researchers to deliver meaningful and tangible benefits to the environment, to human health and to society.

The Centre for Environment and Society at the University of 69成人网 conducts impact-driven research with regional, national and international actors to address pressing environmental, health and societal challenges.

Our members have a strong record of:

  • delivering sound science essential for informing policy
  • improving understanding of complex human and environmental interactions
  • and producing people-focused solutions.

This involves strong and sustained links with industry, regulators and charitable organisations, to ensure that the centre’s research and knowledge exchange activities deliver meaningful and tangible benefits to the environment, to human health and to society more broadly.

Our centre provides a rich and supportive environment for talented postgraduates and early/mid-career researchers, along with more established renowned research scientists and external collaborators.

Members are actively engaged with a wide global network of academic partners, humanitarian organisations, national, regional and local agencies, institutions and stakeholder groups. They cover a broad sweep of disciplines, not limited to but including microbiologists, ecologists, ecotoxicologists, biologists, engineers, physical and human geographers, earth scientists, geochemists, hydrologists, archaeologists, designers, environmental and town planners, data scientists, and remote sensing specialists.

If you are interested in the research and knowledge exchange that we conduct in environmental and societal science or believe that we can play a role in your own work, research or study – do get in touch.
